1.  This Order may be cited as the A596 Trunk Road (Northside Junction, Workington) (Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 31st October 2001.

2.  In this Order—

(i)“the plan”

means the plan numbered HA 10/PS/285 and marked “The A596 Trunk Road (Northside Junction, Workington) (Detrunking) Order 2001”, signed by the authority of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and deposited at the DETR Deposit Document Service, Floor 13, Ashdown House, St. Leonards-on-Sea TN37 3GA.

(ii)“the new trunk road”

means the new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in article 2 of the A596 Trunk Road (Northside Junction, Workington) Order 2001(1);

(iii)“the trunk road”

means the A596 Lillyhall-Workington-Maryport-Aspatria-Wigton-Thursby Trunk Road (A596)

3.  The lengths of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Cumbria County Council that the new trunk road is open for traffic.
