In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 485(a) and 489(1) of the Education Act 1996(1), the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants) (Royal Ballet School) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 1st September 2001.
2. The Secretary of State may on or before 31st October 2001 pay a grant of such amount as she may determine to the governors of the Royal Ballet School of 155 Talgarth Road, Barons Court, London W14 9DE (“the School”) in respect of expenditure to be incurred by them on, or in connection with, the purchase, building and refurbishment of the School’s residential accommodation in Talgarth Road and the building and refurbishment of the new school premises at Floral Street, Covent Garden.
3. The payment of grant under these Regulations shall be dependent on the fulfilment of such conditions as may be specified by the Secretary of State.
4. Where a grant is paid under these Regulations, the governors of the School shall comply with such requirements (including requirements as to the repayment of the grant or the payment to the Secretary of State of other sums representing the value of the refurbishment carried out with the aid of grant or interest on sums due to her) as may be specified by the Secretary of State.

These Regulations authorise the Secretary of State to pay on or before 31 October 2001 a grant to the governors of the Royal Ballet School of 155 Talgarth Road, Barons Court, London W14 9DE, in respect of expenditure to be incurred by them in respect of the purchase and building of new school premises in Floral Street, Covent Garden, and in respect of the building and refurbishment of new residential accommodation in Talgarth Road, Baron’s Court. Payment is subject to such conditions and requirements as the Secretary of State may specify.
