In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994(1), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation (No. 2) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 1st August 2000.

2.  The institutions and bodies referred to in the Schedule are hereby designated as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994.

Explanatory Note

This Order designates Access to Music Limited, a company limited by shares incorporated under the number 2749258, Association for Science Education, a charitable unincorporated association having the registered charity number 313123, Barnet London Borough Council, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Blackpool Borough Council, City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Brent London Borough Council, Bristol City Council, British Association of Advisers and Lecturers in Physical Education, British Institute of Learning Disabilities, a charitable company limited by guarantee having the registered charity number 1019663, Bromley London Borough Council, Croydon London Borough Council, Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council, Design and Technology Association, a charitable company limited by guarantee having the registered charity number 1062270, Ealing London Borough Council, Greenwich London Borough Council, Hackney London Borough Council, Hamilton Trust, a charitable trust having the registered charity number 1004205, Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Havering London Borough Council, Hertfordshire County Council, Hillingdon London Borough Council, Hounslow London Borough Council, Kingston-upon-Hull City Council, Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Lambeth London Borough Council, Lancashire County Council, Leicester City Council, Luton Borough Council, Medway Council, Milton Keynes Council, Norfolk County Council, North East Lincolnshire Borough Council, North Lincolnshire Council, North Tyneside Borough Council, Northumberland County Council, North Yorkshire County Council, Nottingham City Council, Peterborough City Council, Council of the Borough and County of the Town of Poole, Redbridge London Borough Council, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Council of the City of Salford, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Sheffield City Council, Slough Borough Council, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Start Educational Services Limited, a company limited by shares having the registration number 2839230, St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council, Council of the City of Stoke-on-Trent, Surrey County Council, Torbay Borough Council, Tower Hamlets London Borough Council, Wandsworth London Borough Council and Wigan Borough Council as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994.

As a result of this Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the designated institutions for the purposes of the provision of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities, which the institutions consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purpose of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
