The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 84(1) and (2)(a) of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the A316 Trunk Road (Hanworth Road, Country Way and Great Chertsey Road, Hounslow and Spelthorne) (Speed Limits) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 30th May 2000.

2.  In this Order:

“Hanworth Road” means that length of the A316 trunk road in the District of Spelthorne known as Hanworth Road;

“Country Way” means that length of the A316 trunk road in the London Borough of Hounslow known as Country Way;

“Great Chertsey Road” means that length of the A316 trunk road in the London Borough of Hounslow known as Great Chertsey Road.

3.  No person shall drive a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Order.

4.  No person shall drive a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order.

SCHEDULE 1 40 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT

1.  That length of Great Chertsey Road from a point 230 metres east of the A312 Hampton Road roundabout to a point 150 metres west of the B358 Hospital Bridge Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 712 metres.

2.  That length of the westbound exit slip road linking the Great Chertsey Road with the A312 Hampton Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 216 metres.

3.  That length of the eastbound entry slip road linking the A312 Hampton Road roundabout and the Great Chertsey Road, a distance of approximately 228 metres.

SCHEDULE 2 50 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT

1.  That length of the A316 Hanworth Road, Country Way and Great Chertsey Road from its junction with the M3 motorway to a point 230 metres east of the A312 Hampton Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 3.8 kilometres.

2.  That length of the westbound entry slip road linking the A312 Hampton Road roundabout with Country Way, a distance of approximately 150 metres.

3.  That length of the westbound entry slip road linking A314 Hounslow Road with Country Way, a distance of approximately 150 metres.

4.  That length of the westbound exit slip road linking Country Way with Nallhead Road/Felthamhill Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 150 metres.

5.  That length of the westbound entry slip road linking the Nallhead Road/Felthamhill Road roundabout with Country Way, a distance of approximately 250 metres.

6.  That length of the westbound exit slip road linking A316 Hanworth Road roundabout with the A308 Staines Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 220 metres.

7.  That length of the eastbound entry slip road linking the A308 Staines Road roundabout with the A316 Hanworth Road, a distance of approximately 350 metres.

8.  That length of the eastbound exit slip road linking Country Way with the Nallhead Road/Felthamhill Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 220 metres.

9.  That length of the eastbound entry slip road linking the Nallhead Road/Felthamhill Road roundabout with Country Way, a distance of approximately 130 metres.

10.  That length of the eastbound exit slip road linking Country Way with the A314 Hounslow Road, a distance of approximately 150 metres.

11.  That length of the eastbound exit slip road linking Country Way with the A312 Hampton Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 110 metres.
