The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 14A of the Highways Act 1980(1) as extended by the GLA Roads (Supplementary Provisions) Order 2000(2), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the GLA Roads Designation (Amendment) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 9th June 2000.
2.—(1) The Schedule to the GLA Roads Designation Order 2000(3) shall be amended as follows.
(2) After paragraph 66 there shall be inserted the following paragraph—
“66A. A1203 (Limehouse Link) from its junction with A1203 (The Highway) to its junction with the A1261 (Aspen Way).”
(3) After paragraph 69 there shall be inserted the following paragraph—
“69A. A1261 (Aspen Way) from its junction with A1203 (Limehouse Link) to the west side of Leamouth Road roundabout, including the slip roads from Aspen Way to Prestons Road roundabout.”
(4) After paragraph 109 there shall be inserted the following paragraph—
“109A. East India Dock Road Link from its junction with A1261 (Aspen Way) to its junction with A13 (East India Dock Road).”

This Order amends the GLA Roads Designation Order 2000, which designated the roads specified in the Schedule to that Order as GLA roads, for which Transport for London will be the highway authority, with effect from 3rd July 2000. Article 2 of this Order amends that Schedule so to make 3 additions to the list of designated GLA roads.
1980 c. 66; section 14A was inserted by section 260 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (c. 29) (“the 1999 Act ”). For the definition of GLA road see the amendments made by section 263 of the 1999 Act. Section 14A(3) provides that orders under section 14A may be made only before the beginning of the term of office of the first Mayor of London. In accordance with section 3(1) of the 1999 Act the first election will be held on 4th May. The first Mayor will thereafter take office in accordance with section 2(8) of the 1999 Act.
