The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 10(6), 79(1), (3) and (4) and 84 of the Social Security Act 1998(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after agreement by the Social Security Advisory Committee that proposals to make these Regulations should not be referred to it(2), hereby makes the following Regulations:
1998 c. 14. Section 84 is cited because of the meaning ascribed to the word “prescribe”.
See sections 170 and 173(1)(b) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992 (c. 5); section 10 of the Social Security Act 1998 is a relevant enactment for the purposes of section 170 by virtue of the amendment of section 170(5) of the 1992 Act by the Social Security Act 1998, Schedule 7, paragraph 104(a).
