Article 2

SCHEDULEEXCEPTIONS AND MODIFICATIONS SUBJECT TO WHICH THE GENEVA CONVENTIONS (AMENDMENT) ACT 1995 EXTENDS TO THE ISLE OF MAN

1.  References to the Geneva Conventions Act 1957 or the Geneva Conventions (Amendment) Act 1995 or to any provision of either of those Acts shall be construed as references to that Act or provision as it has effect in the Isle of Man.

2.  In section 1, omit subsection (4).

3.—(1) In section 2(5), in the subsection (4A) inserted into section 6 of the Geneva Conventions Act 1957, for the words from “For the purposes” to the end substitute:

  • For the purposes of this subsection references in subsection (4) of this section to the coming into operation of this Act in the Isle of Man shall be construed as references to the coming into operation in the Isle of Man of the Geneva Conventions (Amendment) Act 1995..

(2) In section 2(6), for paragraph (b) substitute—

(b)for the words from “any British” to the end there shall be substituted the words—

(a)any Manx ship (within the meaning of the Merchant Shipping Registration Act 1991 (an Act of Tynwald));

(b)any British-controlled aircraft (within the meaning of section 92 of the Civil Aviation Act 1982(1), as it has effect in the Isle of Man)..

(3) In section 2(7), omit the words from “and (b)” to the end.

4.  In section 5(a)(ii), for the words “subsection (9)” substitute “subsection (8)”.

5.  In section 7, omit subsections (2), (3) and (4).
