Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the International Headquarters and Defence Organisations (Designation and Privileges) Order 1965 by substituting a new Part II of the Schedule to that Order. The Schedule to the 1965 Order lists those headquarters which are designated for the purposes of the International Headquarters and Defence Organisations Act 1964. Part II of that Schedule lists those headquarters which benefit from the privileges and immunities conferred by article 3 (inviolability of archives) of the 1965 Order.

The majority of the headquarters specified in the substituted Part II were previously included in that Part. Those headquarters not previously included in Part II are the Headquarters Maritime Air Forces North West (MARAIRNORTHWEST), the Headquarters Submarine Forces North West (SUBNORTHWEST), the Headquarters United Kingdom–Netherlands Amphibious Force (UKNLAF) and the Headquarters United Kingdom–Netherlands Landing Force (UKNLLF).
