NORTHERN IRELAND

The Northern Ireland (Emergency and Prevention of Terrorism Provisions) (Continuance) Order 1999

Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 62(3)(a) and (4)(a) of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1996(1) and section 27(11)(a) of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1989(2), I hereby make the following Order:

1996 c. 22; the expiry of the 1996 Act was postponed by the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1998 (c. 9), which also amended the 1996 Act. Sections 30A and 30B of the 1996 Act were inserted by section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Terrorism and Conspiracy) Act 1998.

1989 c. 4; subsection (11) was substituted by section 63(6) of, and paragraph 7(3) of Schedule 6 to, the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1996, and was amended by paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1998.
