By the Lords of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council

WHEREAS in pursuance of section 2(3) of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960(1) the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine has made rules entitled “The Registration (Amendment) Rules 1998”:

AND WHEREAS such rules shall not come into force until confirmed by order of the Privy Council:

NOW, THEREFORE, Their Lordships, having taken the said rules into consideration, are hereby pleased to confirm the same as set out in the Schedule to this Order.

This Order may be cited as The Professions Supplementary to Medicine (Registration Rules) (Amendment) Order of Council 1999.

SCHEDULETHE REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) RULES 1998

The Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine, in exercise of its powers under section 2 of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960, and after consultation with all the Boards for the time being established under the said Act, hereby makes the following rules:–

1.  These rules may be cited as the Registration (Amendment) Rules 1998.

2.  The Registration Rules 1962 (scheduled to the Professions Supplementary to Medicine (Registration Rules) Order of Council 1962(2), shall be further amended as follows:–

(i)in rule 16(i), after “31st May 1963,” there shall be inserted “the Arts Therapists Board before the 31st May 1999,”; and

(ii)in the Schedule, after the entry relating to “physiotherapists”, the following entries shall be inserted in the columns indicated:–

These rules shall come into force when confirmed by order of the Privy Council.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960 was extended to the profession of Arts Therapist by an Order made under section 10 of that Act in March 1997. As a result it is necessary to amend the Registration Rules 1962 made under that Act so as to include references to registration with the Arts Therapists Board established under the Act.

S.I. 1962/1765; relevant amending rules were approved by S.I. 1967/266, 1986/660, 1996/2945 and 1997/2562.
