The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 92(1) of the National Health Service Act 1977(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, having regard to the changes in the arrangements for the administration of hospitals and other establishments and facilities previously managed by the former East London and The City Health Authority resulting from the establishment of the National Health Service trusts specified in the Schedule to this Order, having consulted the East London and The City Health Authority and those National Health Service trusts in accordance with section 92(3) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the East London and The City Health Authority (Transfers of Trust Property) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 28th April 1998.

(2) In this Order—

“the Authority” means the East London and The City Health Authority;

“the Schedule” means the Schedule to this Order;

“the trust property” means, in the case of each National Health Service trust specified in the Schedule, the items specified in a schedule of trust property prepared by, agreed upon by and signed on behalf of the Authority and that National Health Service trust on 15th December 1997.

Transfer of trust property

2.  On 28th April 1998, in the case of each National Health Service trust specified in the Schedule, the trust property shall be transferred from the Authority to that National Health Service trust.

  • City and Hackney Community Services National Health Service Trust

  • Homerton Hospital National Health Service Trust

  • Newham Community Health Services National Health Service Trust

  • Newham Healthcare National Health Service Trust.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order transfers on 28th April 1998 to the National Health Service trusts specified in the Schedule to the Order trust property held by the East London and The City Health Authority. A copy of the schedule of trust property transferred to each National Health Service trust can be obtained from the Department of Health, Accounts and Trust Allocations Branch, Quarry House, Quarry Hill, Leeds LS2 7UE.
