The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 12A(1) of, and paragraphs 1 and 3(1)(a) and (b) of Schedule 7A to, the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Monklands and Bellshill Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) (Change of Name and Amendment) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 1st April 1998.

(2) In this Order “the principal Order” means the Monklands and Bellshill Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1992(2).

Amendment of definition of “the trust”

2.  In article 1 of the principal Order in the definition of “the trust” for the words “the Monklands and Bellshill Hospitals National Health Service Trust” there are substituted the words “the Monklands Hospital National Health Service Trust”.

Amendment of article 2 of the principal Order

3.  In article 2 of the principal Order for the words “the Monklands and Bellshill Hospitals National Health Service Trust” there are substituted the words “the Monklands Hospital National Health Service Trust”.

Amendment of article 3 of the principal Order

4.  In article 3(2) of the principal Order the words “and Bellshill Maternity Hospital, Bellshill,” are omitted.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order changes the name of the Monklands and Bellshill Hospital National Health Service Trust to the Monklands Hospital National Health Service Trust and removes Bellshill Maternity Hospital as a hospital which the trust is required to own and manage.
