The Secretary of State, being designated(1) for the purposes of, and in exercise of the powers conferred by, section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) and in exercise of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

See S.I. 1995/3207, which designated the Secretary of State for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 in relation to measures relating to the access to, the training for, the pursuit of and the award of qualifications in (amongst other professions) dentistry.

(2)

1972 c. 68. By virtue of the amendment of section 1(2) of the 1972 Act by section 1 of the European Economic Area Act 1993 (c. 51), regulations may be made under section 2(2) to implement obligations of the United Kingdom created or arising by or under the EEA Agreement. The 1972 Act is to be read with the 1993 Act.
