The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1998

2.—(1) Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971(1) (which specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) shall be amended as follows.

(2) In paragraph 1(a) of Part I of that Schedule, after the word “Etoxeridine”, there shall be inserted the word “Etryptamine”.

(3) In paragraph 1(a) of Part II of that Schedule, there shall be inserted—

(a)after the word “Methaqualone”(2), the word “Methcathinone”; and

(b)after the word “Propiram”(3), the word “Zipeprol”.

(4) In paragraph 1(a) of Part III of that Schedule, there shall be inserted—

(a)after the word “Alprazolam”(4), the word “Aminorex”;

(b)after the word “Bromazepam”(4), the word “Brotizolam”; and

(c)after the word “Meprobamate”(4), the word “Mesocarb”.

“Methaqualone” was inserted by S.I. 1984/859.

“Propiram” was inserted by S.I. 1973/771.

(4)

“Alprazolam”, “Bromazepam” and “Meprobamate” were inserted by S.I. 1985/1995.
