The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977(1) and by section 5(1) of, and paragraph 29(1) of Schedule 2 to, the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990(2) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, considering it appropriate in the interests of the health service to make this Order(3), and after completion of the consultation prescribed under paragraph 29(3) of Schedule 2 to the latter Act(4), hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Dissolution of the North Downs Community Health National Health Service Trust and the Heathlands Mental Health National Health Service Trust Order 1998 and shall come into force on 1st April 1998.

Dissolution of NHS trusts

2.—(1) The North Downs Community Health National Health Service Trust established by the North Downs Community Health National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993(5) is dissolved, and accordingly that Order is revoked.

(2) The Heathlands Mental Health National Health Service Trust established by the Heathlands Mental Health National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1994(6) is dissolved, and accordingly that Order is revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order dissolves the North Downs Community Health and the Heathlands Mental Health National Health Service Trusts on 1st April 1998.

This Order should be read in conjunction with the Surrey Hampshire Borders National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1998(7).
