The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsection (1) of section 144 of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980(1) as extended by section 44(3) of the Justices of the Peace Act 1997(2), after consultation with the Rule Committee appointed under the said section 144, hereby makes the following Rules:
