This Order amends the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Commencement No. 2 and Supplemental, Saving and Transitional Provisions) Order 1998 (“the commencement order”) by inserting a saving provision in Part I of Schedule 2. It provides for the North East London Education Association to remain in existence, and to continue to exercise certain functions, notwithstanding the coming into force on 1st October 1998 of the provisions of Schedules 29 and 30 to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 repealing Part II of the School Inspections Act 1996.
The North East London Education Association was established by Order of the Secretary of State dated 27th July 1995 to conduct Hackney Downs School. That school was discontinued with effect from 31st December 1995, but an Order has yet to be made under section 39 of the School Inspections Act for the dissolution of the Association.
This Order also corrects errors of description in article 4(1) and (2) of, and the heading of Schedule 2 to, the commencement order.
