The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 95(1) and (1A) of the Transport Act 1968(1) and now vested in him(2), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with the provisions of section 101(6) of that Act hereby makes the following Regulations, a draft of which has been laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament pursuant to section 101(3A) of that Act.

1968 c. 73; section 95(1) was amended and section 95(1A) inserted by the Road Traffic (Drivers' Ages and Hours of Work) Act 1976 c. 3, section 2(1); section 97 was substituted by S.I. 1979/1746 and further substituted by S.I. 1984/144, and then amended by S.I. 1986/1457, S.I. 1989/2121 and S.I. 1996/941.
