The Southern Regional Flood Defence Committee Order 1998

Whereas the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food considers–

(a)it is necessary or expedient to make an order under section 16(5) of the Environment Act 1995(1) in relation to the regional flood defence committee specified in Article 1 of this Order;

(b)it is inappropriate that the council of any county in relation to which an entry “none” appears in column (2) of the Schedule to this Order should appoint a member of the committee; and

(c)that one member of the committee should be appointed jointly by the councils for any county or London borough in relation to which an entry “one jointly” appears in column (2) of the Schedule to this Order.

Now, therefore, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on him(2) by section 16(5) and (8) of the Environment Act 1995 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following Order:

Section 15(7) defines “the relevant Minister” and section 56(1) defines “the Minister”.
