These Regulations further amend the Fishing Vessels (Certification of Deck Officers and Engineer Officers) Regulations 1984. They remove provisions enabling the issue of new certificates of service whilst preserving existing certificates of service. (Certificates of service were a transitional provision to allow experienced, but unqualified, fishermen to continue their employment, once the requirement for certificates of competency were introduced by those 1984 Regulations).
