This Order applies to Wales. In this Order the Secretary of State designates rural areas under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967 (“the 1967 Act”), section 1AA, and the Housing Act 1996 (“the 1996 Act”), section 17.
The 1967 Act, section 1AA, provides for an additional right to enfranchisement for houses above the applicable “low rent” limit under section 4 of that Act. This Order designates rural areas where this additional right does not apply.
The 1996 Act, section 16, provides a right for a tenant of a registered social landlord to acquire his dwelling. This Order also designates rural areas where this right does not apply.
