Citation, commencement and application

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Competition) (Revocations) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 12th December 1997.

(2) Subject to paragraph (3), these Regulations apply to work which is proposed to be carried out in England and Wales on or after the date on which these Regualtions come into force.

(3) These Regulations do not apply to work in respect of which a notice has been published in accordance with subsection (1) of section 7 (the conditions) of the Local Government Act 1988 before that date.

Revocation of Regulations and Savings

2.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2) the Regulations listed in column (1) of the Schedule to these Regulations are revoked to the extent indicated in column (3).

(2) Nothing in paragraph (1) shall affect the application of the Local Government (Direct Services Organisations) (Competition) Regulations 1993(1) to defined authorities in Scotland.
