The Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1997

The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 25(1) and (2) of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997(1) and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1997.

Appointed days

2.  The day appointed for the coming into force of section 19 of the Act (requirement to state national insurance number)—

(a) for the purposes only of authorising the making of regulations is 7th November 1997; and

(b) for all other purposes is 1st December 1997.

Explanatory Note

This Order provides for the coming into force of section 19 of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997, which concerns a requirement to state national insurance number, for the purposes of making regulations on 7th November 1997 and for all other purposes on 1st December 1997.
