The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by articles 52(1) and 118(6) of the Air Navigation (No. 2) Order 1995(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and Commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Air Navigation (Dangerous Goods) (Second Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 1st December 1997.

Amendment of the Air Navigation (Dangerous Goods) Regulations 1994

2.  The Air Navigation (Dangerous Goods) Regulations 1994(2) shall be further amended by substituting for the definition of “Technical Instructions” in regulation 3(1)—

“Technical Instructions” means the 1997—1998 English language edition of the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air as amended by the Addendum to those Instructions dated 11 August 1997 which was approved and published by decision of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organisation;.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations further amend the Air Navigation (Dangerous Goods) Regulations 1994. The definition of “Technical Instructions” is amended so as to include an Addendum to the 1997—1998 edition of the International Civil Aviation’s Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Goods by Air containing instructions for the carriage of chemical oxygen generators.
