Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force certain provisions of the National Health Service (Primary Care) Act 1997 (“the 1997 Act”).

Provisions which are brought into force on 30th October 1997 relate to the preparation of proposals for pilot schemes for the provision of personal dental services under the 1997 Act, and to the status of contracts entered into by those who provide, or who are to provide, personal medical services under a pilot scheme.

Provisions which are brought into force on 28th November 1997 relate to the provision of personal medical services under a pilot scheme, the approval and making of such schemes and the funding of work preparatory to the provision of services under such a scheme.
