2.—(1) The Animal By-Products (Identification) Regulations 1995(1) shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2) below.
(2) In regulation 3—
(a)in paragraph (1), after the words “paragraph (2)” there shall be inserted the words “and paragraph (3)”; and
(b)after paragraph (2) there shall be added the following paragraph—
“(3) In these Regulations, the definition of “animal by-product” shall also include any carcase or part of a carcase which is derived from a bovine animal which has been slaughtered for human consumption and has been shown to be more than two years and six months old at the time of slaughter but was not accompanied, at the time of slaughter, by a slaughter certificate issued under the Beef Assurance Scheme or any other scheme made by the Minister or any Secretary of State which provides an exception to the prohibition of sale of meat from bovine animals which are older than that age at slaughter.”.
S.I. 1995/614, to which there is an amendment not relevant to these Regulations.
