Contracting out of functions

2.—(1) Functions conferred on the Secretary of State, as the police authority for the metropolitan police district, by section 8A of the Police Pensions Act 1976(1) or by any regulations made under section 1 or 8A of that Act may be exercised by, or by the employees of, such person (if any) as may be authorised in that behalf by the Secretary of State.

(2) Functions conferred on the Secretary of State by section 15(2)(a) of the Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1967(2) (superannuation of metropolitan civil staffs) or by provisions (being the principal civil service pension scheme and enactments and instruments relating to civil service pensions) having effect for the purposes of those functions by virtue of section 15(2)(b) of that Act may be exercised by, or by the employees of, such person (if any) as may be authorised in that behalf by the Secretary of State.
