Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Diseases of Animals (Waste Food) Order 1973, which imposes a licensing requirement on persons possessing unprocessed waste food for the purpose of feeding it to livestock or poultry. The amendment replaces the definition of “processed” with a definition which requires waste food derived from ruminant animals which has been moved to processing premises from a slaughterhouse, knacker’s yard, hunt kennel or premises used for the purpose of cutting up fresh meat intended for sale for human consumption to be treated using any of the systems described in Commission Decision 92/562/EEC as read with Decision 94/382/EC as amended by Decision 95/29/EC.
