The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 8(1), (2) and (3) and 126(4) and (5) of the National Health Service Act 1977(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Health Authorities (England) Establishment Order 1996 and shall come into force on 1st April 1996.

Establishment and names of Health Authorities, and determination of areas of Health Authorities

2.  For each of the areas described in column (2) of the Schedule to this Order there is established a Health Authority which shall be known by the name specified in column (1) of that Schedule in relation to that area.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order establishes, for the purposes of the National Health Service Act 1977, Health Authorities to act for the areas of England which are specified in the Schedule to the Order.
