The Local Government (Wales) Act 1994 (Commencement No. 7) Order 1996

The Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 66(3) of the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994(1), hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994 (Commencement No. 7) Order 1996.

Interpretation

2.  In this Order “the 1994 Act” means the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994.

Commencement of certain provisions of Part II of the 1994 Act

3.  The provisions of Part II of, and Schedules 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 to, the 1994 Act which are specified in Schedule 1 to this Order shall come into force on 1st April 1996.

Commencement of certain provisions of Part VII of the 1994 Act

4.  The provisions of Part VII of, and Schedules 15, 16, 17 and 18 to, the 1994 Act which are specified in Schedule 2 to this Order shall come into force on 1st April 1996.

Explanatory Note

This is the final commencement order in respect of the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994. The provisions commenced by this Order come into force on 1st April 1996.

Paragraph 1 of Schedule 6 to the 1994 Act is amended by paragraph 38(1) of Schedule 10 to the Environment Act 1995 (c. 25).

As a result of paragraph 30(6) of Schedule 10 to the Environment Act 1995 the paragraph (aa) inserted by paragraph 22 of Schedule 6 is re-numbered “(ab)”.

Paragraph 17(2) of Schedule 9 to the 1994 Act is amended by paragraph 231 of Schedule 22 to the Environment Act 1995.
