Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations replace the Education (Individual Pupils' Achievements) (Information) (Wales) Regulations 1994 (as amended), which are revoked.

The Schedules to the regulations include some minor changes from the 1994 Regulations reflecting changes in the attainment targets for English and Welsh in the revised National Curriculum (Schedule 1, Part 1). There is also now a requirement, in the case of pupils in the final years of the first, second and third key stages, for the head teacher’s report to include comparative information about the educational achievements of pupils at schools in Wales (regulation 3(5) and (6) and Schedule 3).
