The Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 1996

Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 11 of the Consumer Protection Act 19871 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation in accordance with section 11(5) of that Act with such organisations as appear to him to be representative of interests substantially affected by the following Regulations, and the Health and Safety Commission in relation to the application of the following Regulations to Great Britain, hereby makes the following Regulations:

This Order may be cited as the Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 31st December 1996.

Regulation 11 of the Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) Regulations 19942 shall be amended as follows.

In paragraphs (1) and (2) for “1st January 1997” in both places where those words occur, there shall be substituted “1st July 1997”.

These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles Tyres (Safety) Regulations 1994 by extending, from 1st January 1997 to 1st July 1997, the transitional exemption date laid down in regulation 11(1) and (2) for the supply of VR and ZR designated tyres and bias-belted and diagonal-ply tyres.
