The Secretary of State, being designated for the purposes of, and in exercise of the powers conferred by, section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

(1)

1972 c. 68. See S.I. 1995/3207, article 2 and the Schedule, which designates the Secretary of State for the purposes of section 2(2) in respect of measures relating to the access to, the training for, the pursuit of, and the award of qualifications in the professions of dentistry, medicine, midwifery, nursing and pharmacy and their specialities. By virtue of the amendment of section 1(2) of the European Communities Act made by section 1 of the European Economic Area Act 1993 (c. 51) regulations may be made under section 2(2) of the European Communities Act to implement obligations of the United Kingdom created or arising by or under the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
