The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of powers conferred upon him by sections 135, 136(5)(b), 137(1) and 175(1) and (3) to (5) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992(1), sections 5(1)(a) and (b), 71(6)(b), 189(1), (4) and (5) and 191 of the Social Security Administration Act 1992(2) and section 11 of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996(3) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, by this instrument which contains only regulations made by virtue of, or consequential upon the aforesaid section 11 and which are made before the end of the period of 6 months beginning with the coming into force of that enactment(4), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1992 c. 4; section 137(1) is an interpretation provision and is cited because of the meaning assigned to the word “prescribed”.

(2)

1992 c. 5; section 191 is an interpretation provision and is cited because of the meaning assigned to the word “prescribed”.
