The Road Traffic (Special Parking Area) (City of Westminster) (Amendment) Order 1996

Whereas the council of the City of Westminster has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport for an order to be made under section 76 of the Road Traffic Act 1991(1) and the Secretary of State has consulted the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis in accordance with section 76(2) of that Act:

NOW, the Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 76(1) and section 77(6) of Road Traffic Act 1991 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: —

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Special Parking Area) (City of Westminster) (Amendment) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 1st October 1996.

Amendment of the Road Traffic (Special Parking Area) (City of Westminster) Order 1994

2.—(1) The Schedule to the Road Traffic (Special Parking Area) (City of Westminster) Order 1994(2) shall be amended as follows.

(2) After paragraph 181 there shall be inserted the following paragraph —

181A.  South Eaton Place (so far as it lies to the south west of a line down the centre of the carriageway) between its junction with Ebury Street and the party wall of Numbers 54 and 56 South Eaton Place.

(3) After paragraph 191 there shall be inserted the following paragraph —

191A.  Horseferry Road between its junction with Millbank and the northern kerb-line of Thorney Street and the party wall of Ergon House and Imperial House.

(4) After paragraph 192 there shall be inserted the following paragraph —

192A.  Millbank from the southern kerb-line of Thorney Street and a point opposite to the southern kerb-line of Horseferry Road and the southern kerb-line of Lambeth Bridge.

(5) After paragraph 193 there shall be inserted the following paragraph —

193A.  Thorney Street.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Road Traffic (Special Parking Area) (City of Westminster) Order 1994 so as to add Thorney Street and parts of South Eaton Place, Horseferry Road and Millbank to the roads excluded from the special parking area designated by that Order.
