1.—(1) These Regulations, which may be cited as the National Disability Council Regulations 1996, shall come into force on 29th January 1996.
(2) In these Regulations “the Council” means the National Disability Council established by section 50 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
2. The Secretary of State may remove a member of the Council from office in any of the following circumstances—
(a)that he has throughout a continuous period of 6 months ending not earlier than 3 months before the date on which the removal takes effect failed, without the consent of the Council, to attend meetings of the Council;
(b)that he is an undischarged bankrupt or is otherwise unable to pay his debts; and
(c)that he is incapable of discharging the functions of his office or has been guilty of misbehaviour.
3. The Secretary of State may, with the approval of the Treasury, pay expenses of the Council which he is satisfied were reasonably incurred.
