In exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 20(3), 20(8), 21(8) and 51(4) of the Gaming Act 1968(1), I hereby make the following Order:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 1st May 1995.
(2) This Order shall not extend to Scotland.
2. Section 20(3) of the Gaming Act 1968(2) (under which the maximum permitted aggregate amount of winnings in respect of games of bingo played in one week simultaneously on different club premises is £10,000) shall have effect with the substitution, for the reference to the sum specified in that subsection, of a reference to the sum of £25,000.
3. Section 20(8) of the Gaming Act 1968(3) (under which the maximum amount by which weekly winnings on any particular bingo club premises may exceed the aggregate amount of the stakes hazarded is £2,500) shall have effect with the substitution, for the reference to the sum specified in that subsection, of a reference to the sum of £5,000.
4. In section 21(2) of the Gaming Act 1968(4) (conditions on which gaming for prizes is permitted at licensed club premises) paragraphs (b) and (e) shall have effect as if, for the sum specified in each of those paragraphs, there were substituted the sum of £30.
5. The Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1993(5), the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1994(6) and the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) (No. 2) Order 1994(7) are hereby revoked.

This Order increases in England and Wales the monetary limits specified in section 20(3) and (8) of the Gaming Act 1968 (c. 65) and described in articles 2 and 3 of the Order.
The Order also increases in England and Wales the maximum amounts permitted—
(a)to be taken by way of the sale of chances; and
(b)as the aggregated amount of value of prizes,
on any one determination of winners in gaming for prizes at licensed club premises under section 21 of that Act.
1968 c. 65; section 20(3) was amended by section 1 of the Gaming (Amendment) Act 1980 (c. 8).
The sum specified in section 20(3) is as substituted by article 2 of the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1993 (S.I. 1993/967).
The sum specified in section 20(8) is as substituted by article 2 of the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1994 (S.I. 1994/956).
The sums specified in section 21(2)(b) and (e) are as substituted by article 2 of the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) (No. 2) Order 1994 (S.I. 1994/957), being £27.50 in each case.
