Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Order)
The Order continues the University Commissioners' powers and duties until 1st April 1996. By virtue of paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 11 to the Education Reform Act 1988, their powers and duties would have ceased on 29th July 1991, but they were extended until 31st December 1992 by the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1991 (S.I. 1991/1427), extended until 1st January 1994 by the Education (University Commission– ers) Order 1992 (S.I. 1992/3064), extended by the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1993 (S.I. 1993/3056) until 1st Janaury 1995, and further extended by the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1994 (S.I. 1994/3106) until 1st April 1995.
