Conferring of additional functions

2.  The following additional functions are hereby conferred on the Teacher Training Agency —

(a)the licensing or otherwise authorising of persons who are not qualified teachers to be employed as teachers at schools and functions incidental or supplemental thereto exercised under regulations from time to time in force under section 218(1)(a) and (3) of the Education Reform Act 1988(1); and

(b)functions exercised under regulations from time to time in force under section 218 (2B) of the Education Reform Act 1988(2) in connection with requirements imposed by those regulations on persons carrying on city technology colleges or city colleges for the technology of the arts as to the training and teaching experience of persons employed as teachers at such colleges who seek to become (in relation to schools) qualified teachers.
