Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 1st January 1996 the provisions of the Deregulation and Contracting Out Act 1994 so far as they have not been brought into force before, or are not brought into force as part of the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995 on, that date.

The provisions brought into force by this Order include the provisions that relate to public service vehicle operator licensing so far as those provisions are not already in force. The Order contains transitional provisions relating to such licences.

The provisions brought into force by this Order also include the provisions that relate to the inspection of independent schools.
