The Great Central (Nottingham) Railway Order 1995

PART I particulars of traffic signs and other devices and appliances

(1) The undertaker shall erect and maintain gates across the railway at each side of the road.

(2) The gates shall be of such dimensions and so constructed as to fence in the railway sufficiently when closed across the railway or across the road.

(3) The gates shall be painted white and shall bear a red reflection target showing in each direction along the road when the gates are closed across the road together with electric lamps to indicate to road users that the road is obstructed.

(4) Stop boards shall be provided beside the railway line facing away from the crossing 50 metres from the gates bearing the words “STOP, Await Instructions from an authorised person”.

(5) Where the road passes over the crossing—

(a) reflectorised edge of carriageway markings of the size, colour and type shown in Diagram 1012.1 in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 1994(1) shall be provided along each edge of each footway; and

(b) centre-of-carriageway markings consisting of double continuous white lines of the type shown in Diagram 1013.1A in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 1994 shall be provided in the centre of the carriageway.
