Whereas in pursuance of section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(1) the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has made the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1995 set out in the Schedule to this Order:

Now, therefore, Their Lordships, having taken the said Regulations into consideration, are hereby pleased, in exercise of the power conferred on Them by section 25(1) of the said Act, to order as follows:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1995.

2.  The Regulations set out in the Schedule hereto are approved.

SCHEDULETHE VETERINARY SURGEONS AND VETERINARY PRACTITIONERS (REGISTRATION) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 1995

The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, in exercise of its powers under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, hereby makes the following Regulations.

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1995.

2.  Regulation 16 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1967(2) (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Regulations”) shall be amended by the deletion of the second sentence and the substitution of the following therefor—

  • This fee shall be paid at the time of the application for registration and shall be £144.00 for names entered on the Register before 31st March 1995 and £148.00 for names entered on the Register on 31st March 1995 and thereafter..

3.  Regulation 20 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion in paragraphs (a), (b) and (d) of the amounts “£127.00”, “£37.00” and “£24.00” and the substitution therefor of the amounts “£131.00”, “£38.00” and “£25.00” respectively.

4.  Regulation 23 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion in the first and third sentences of paragraph (b) of the amount “£144.00” and the substitution therefor in each case of the amount “£148.00”.

5.  Regulations 2, 3 and 4 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1994(3) are hereby revoked.

PURSUANT to a resolution passed at a meeting of the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons held on 3rd November 1994, the Common Seal of the said Royal College was affixed hereto on the same date in the presence of:—

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Regulations approved by this Order further amend the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1967 by increasing, with effect from 31st March 1995, the fees payable for the registration and annual retention of names on the Registers of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The existing fees, which came into effect on 31st March 1994, are being increased by an average of about 3 per cent.
