The Traffic Director for London, following a direction given to him by the Secretary of State for Transport under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991(1) and in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(2), and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the A1 Trunk Road (Islington) Red Route (Prohibition of U-Turn) Traffic Order 1995, and shall come into force on 15th May 1995.

2.  In this Order “central reservation” means that part of Holloway Road in the London Borough of Islington which separates the two carriageways of Holloway Road for the safety or guidance of vehicular traffic using that road.

3.  Subject to the provisions of article 4 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding north-west bound in Holloway Road, Islington to make a U-Turn at the end of the central reservation opposite the south-eastern kerbline of Windsor Road.

4.  Nothing in this Order shall apply—

(a)to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden; or

(b)to a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes.
