5.  In relation to the following tests, the methods for the analysis and testing shall be those specified below—

(a) Enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus

Provisional IDF Standard 145: 1990; Milk and milk-based products.

Enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus in products other than dried milk-Colony count technique at 37°C.

(b) Enumeration of Stapjylococcus aureus in powdered milkProvisional IDF Standard 138: 1986; Dried Milk. Enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus. Colony count technique at 37°C.
(c) Detection of Salmonella sppISO 6597: 1993; Microbiology— General guidance on methods for the detection of Salmonella and IDF Standard 93A: 1985; sample preparation.
(d) Detection of Listeria monocytogenesISO 10560: 1993; Milk and milk productgs—Detection of Listeria monocytogenes.
(e) Enumeration of Escherichia coli in milk-based products

Provisional IDF standard 170: 1994. Milk and milk products—Enumeration of presumptive Escherichia coli content by:

(i)

Most probable number technique.

(ii)

most probable number technique with use of 4-methylumbelliferyl –β –D–glucuronide (MUG).

(iii)

Colony count technique at 44°C using membranes.

(f) Detection of phosphatase (Residual) in creamAOAC official method 950.41: Official Methods of Analysis, 16th edition: 1995.
(g) Detection of phosphatase (Reactivated and Residual) in creamAOAC official method 965.27: Official Methods of Analysis, 16th edition: 1995.
