Cumbrian de-restricted area

The area comprising those parts of the County of Cumbria which lie within the following boundaries:

North along the stream which leaves Angle Tarn at OS map ref NY 245078 to Langstrath Beck; north east along Langstrath Beck to its confluence with Greenup Gill; north west along Stonethwait Beck to where it meets the road B5289 at Rosthwaite (OS map ref NY 258145); south west on the road B5289 to Seatoller; north west on the road B5289 via Honister Pass and Gatesgarth to where it meets Buttermere (OS map ref NY 191153); through the centre of Buttermere to its north west corner (OS map ref NY 173163); north west along Buttermere Dubs to where it flows into Crummock Water; north through the middle of Crummock Water to where the River Cocker flows out of it; north along the River Cocker to where it is crossed by a minor road at OS map ref NY 148215;

south west on the minor road to its junction with a track at OS map ref NY 137212; west along the track to the track junction at Maggie’s Bridge (OS map ref NY 134210); south west then south east following the field boundary fence to where it meets a stream at OS map ref NY 134209; south west following the stream to where it meets a field boundary fence at OS map ref NY 133208; south west following field boundary fence to where it meets a field boundary wall at OS map ref NY 132207; south east then south following the wall t OS map ref NY 133206; west south west following the wall to OS map ref NY 131205; south east then south following the wall to OS map ref NY 133201; west following the wall to where it meets Whiteoak Beck at OS map ref NY 131201; south following Whiteoak Beck to where it meets the fell boundary fence at OS map ref NY 129191;

south west following the fence to OS map ref NY 125189; south east in a straight line to OS map ref NY 127186; east following the fell boundary fencing to OS map ref NY 134187; north following the fencing to OS map ref NY 133194; then east following the fencing to OS map ref NY 138194; south then south west following the fencing to OS map ref NY 138185; south following the fencing through Mosedale to OS map ref NY 139173; west following the fencing to OS map ref NY 136173; south following the fencing across Gale Fell to OS map ref NY 137163; south west following the fencing to OS map ref NY 136162; following the fencing in a westerly direction to just east of the summit of Great Borne (OS map ref NY 124164); south west following the fell boundary fence to OS map ref NY 119155;

north west following the boundary of Bowness Plantation to where it crosses a stream (dry beck) at OS map ref NY 118155; south following dry beck to where it crosses the footpath running alongside Ennerdale Water at OS map ref NY 118148; south east along the footpath running along the edge of Ennerdale Water and the River Liza to OS map ref NY 192125; south east following the edge of Ennerdale Forest to where it meets a footpath at OS map ref NY 196122; south east along footpath to OS map ref NY 222100 just north of Styhead Tarn; south west along footpath to OS map ref NY 218094; south east along footpath to just north of Angle Tarn (OS map ref NY 245078).

In addition to the following parts of the County of Cumbria which lie within the following boundaries:

West following the field boundary at OS map ref NY 113191 near Fothergill Head to the edge of the wood at OS map ref NY 110191; west along the edge of the wood to a track at OS map ref NY 094186; west along the track to its junction with a minor road at OS map ref NY 086185; south on the minor road to its junction with a minor road at Croasdale (OS map ref NY 093174); north east on a minor road to OS map ref NY 094175; north east along a track to where it meets a field boundary at OS map ref NY 097177; following the field boundary in a northerly direction to OS map ref NY 096178; north east following the field boundary to OS map ref NY 099179;

east following the fencing along Croasdale Beck to OS map ref NY 108180; south following the fencing to OS map ref NY 107176; east following the fencing to OS map ref NY 109175; south following the fencing to OS map ref NY 108173; east following the fencing to OS map ref NY 116171; in a northerly direction following fencing over Whiteoak to Gavel Fell at OS map ref NY 117184; north west following fencing to OS map ref NY 114187; north then north west following fencing over Fothergill Head to the field boundary at OS map ref NY 113191.

The area excludes any part of a road, track, footpath or river by reference to which its boundary is defined.
