The Railways Act 1993 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1994

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 154(2) of the Railways Act 1993(1), hereby makes the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Railways Act 1993 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1994.

2.  The following provisions of the Railways Act 1993 shall come into force on 16th August 1994:

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force, on 16th August 1994, section 134(1) of, and Schedule 11 to, the Railways Act 1993, so far as not already in force. Section 134(1) brings into effect Schedule 11 and Schedule 11 contains provisions concerning pensions. Those parts of paragraph 9 of Schedule 11 which are brought into force by this Order insert new sections 52B, 52C and 52D(1) to (5) and (9) after section 52A of the Transport Act 1980 (c. 34) relating to substitution orders. Paragraph 11 of the Schedule, also brought into force by this Order, relates to the giving by the Secretary of State of guarantees to trustees of certain pension schemes in respect of their liabilities to make payments in respect of pension rights under such schemes.
