The Weights and Measures (Packaged Goods and Quantity Marking and Abbreviations of Units) (Amendment) Regulations 1994

Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1

Whereas the Secretary of State pursuant to section 86(2) of the Weights and Measures Act 1985(1) has consulted organisations appearing to him to be representative of interests substantially affected by these Regulations and has considered the representations made to him by organisations with respect to the subject matter of these Regulations:

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 15(1)(g), 23(1)(a) and (d), 48(1)(a), 48(1A)(ii), 49, 65, 66, 68(1), 68(1A)(a) and 94(1) of the Weights and Measures Act 1985 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

1985 c. 72; section 68(1) defines “regulations”, sections 48(1A) and 68(1A) have effect by virtue of the modifications to Part V of the Act made by paragraphs 2(b) and 8(b) of Part II of Schedule 3 to the Weights and Measures (Packaged Goods) Regulations 1986 and section 94(1) defines “prescribed”.
