(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order revokes the Orders made under section 1 of the Trunk Road Act 1936 (c. 5), paragraph 29 of the Twenty–fourth Schedule to the Highways Act 1959 (c. 25), and sections 10 and 14 of the Highways Act 1980, which provided for a by–pass of the London—Fishguard Trunk Road at Whitland.
In their place, this Order lays down the centre line of a proposed trunk road, which, if constructed, would allow for a by–pass of the London—Fishguard Trunk Road (A40) at Whitland.
The Order provides for the detrunking of the length of the trunk road which would be superseded if the by–pass described above is constructed. The superseded length would be a classified road maintainable by the local highway authority.
