Coming into force

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by paragraph 3 of Schedule 1 to the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 19791 and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby make the following Order:—

Citation, commencement and interpretation1

This Order may be cited as the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (Term of Office of Members) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.

In this Order “the Council” means the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting.

Term of Office of Members of the Council2

Appointment as a member of the Council shall be for a period of five years.

Revocation3

The Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 (Membership of Central Council) Order 19822 is hereby revoked.

This Order specifies the term of office of the members of the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (“the Council”) and revokes the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979 (Membership of Central Council) Order 1982 which specified the number of members of the Council as well as their term of office. The number of members of the Council is now specified by the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (Membership Proposal) Approval Order 1992 (S.I.1992/2160) which approved the Council’s proposal that it should consist of sixty members.
