The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 46 and 60 of the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992((1)) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as The Glasgow Caledonian University (Establishment) (Scotland) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.
2. There shall be established on 1st April 1993 an institution for the provision of higher education to be known as Glasgow Caledonian University.

This Order establishes Glasgow Caledonian University as an Institution for the provision of Higher Education. The University is established on 1st April 1993.
The new University is being established upon the merger of Glasgow Polytechnic and The Queen’s College, Glasgow. These institutions are closed by the Glasgow Polytechnic and The Queen’s College, Glasgow (Closure) (Scotland) Order 1993.
